A Fish is Born

So...back to the swimming milestone. If you don't remember from a previous post, B was terrified the last time we took her to the pool.  So when I got the below letter (with some modifications/revisions/deletions to protect MIL and our privacy....yeah....I'm a blogger...what privacy?!) I was very happy.

Subject: great day!!!

"What a great time we had! B was awesome! First, we sat in the water and she played with a toy. Then, she learned to smack the water and make it splash. Then, I pulled her along so she could float and kick her feet -- well, she never quite kicked, actually she kept her knees tucked under her!!! But she smiled! Then she held onto the wall and held herself up -- did great at that!!! Then we played, "Alligator, alligator, jump in the water!" where I was in the water in the lazy river and she "stood" on the side and jumped in! We ended with Ring Around the Rosey." It was a great time!

B did real well in daycare, too. The ladies said she never cried and she was playing when I got there. She smiled so big when she saw me!!!! I enjoyed my time.

Anyway, it was the greatest day!!!"

Is it okay I was also a bit sad, when I got the above email??  I wish I could have seen B do all these things.  Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% on board with MIL doing these classes with B.  I'm so thankful.  But...I am a tad bit jealous.  Oh the trials of tribulations...and guilt...of a working mom.  ::sigh::

  1. I totally understand being sad that it wasn't with you. I have those moments all the time. On the plus side - that is awesome that she had a good time! Just keep reminding yourself that you will have all summer with the kiddos to do all that fun stuff :)

  2. I understand. My youngest is on the cusp on walking. Daycare is trying to help out, but I think I'd be sad if her first steps were with them.

  3. Your kids are adorable! Both of my husband's parent were teachers and he loved spending time with them in the summer when they were off from school. You'll have lots of precious moments all summer long! New follower from bloggy moms, look forward to your future posts! You can find me at

  4. When we lived in Pittsburgh, we did swim lessons ... and I had to get in the water - in a suit - in Winter lol. My kids became fish when we moved to Florida and had a pool in the backyard ... and now I don't have to get in ;)
