July 4th ~ Sister Lakes

We had another incredible weekend in Michigan at the Burkle lake house over the 4th. Ty loved the fireworks this year, and did a lot of swimming! Anything was a step up from last year's debacle...when we had Tyler AND our dog Cincy in the hospital on the 4th (The 4th from hell we call it!). Last year we didn't even see fireworks or parades, so seeing both was quite an improvement! We got to do some relaxing and I also got to check out the site of my big half ironman coming up on August 1st. Mike and I took a trip to the location while Ty was napping one day. It made me feel so much better to see where I'd be doing this crazy race, and I even got in the water and swam.

The Rodriguez/Gustafson family came up for the day on Sunday. It was wonderful to spend some quality time with Muma and Poopie, and have Ty and Hendrix play. Selfishly, it was also great to have my friend to chat and relax with. We are hoping to convince them to get a home up in Sister Lakes so we can make this a tradition :) Otherwise...they are always welcome up at the Burkle digs, as always!

Father's Day 2009

Yes I'm a bit on the late side...but what can I say...I'm having far too much fun with Ty at home to update my blog! Since it was still Tyler birthday party weekend on Father's Day, and my fam was still in town, we celebrated a day later with just the three of us. Since I'm home with Ty for the summer, I thought it would be fun to make a project out of it (plus it was a great reason to have him outside and active). I had Tyler paint and draw on the wrapping paper for Mike's gifts and then wrapped his new bike seat and tool box up in it. It was adorable (if I do say so myself), and made it very special for Mike. Then Mike and Ty tried out his new wadding pool (Thanks Grams and Granddad...it's awesome!) We just love our Daddy and think he's the best Daddy in the whole world, so we wanted to be sure we did something special for him, even if it was a day late!
