Tyler Turns Three

In June our baby turned 3.  I still can't believe we have a 3 year old!  It seems like just yesterday that he was born.  What an amazing day that was.  Our entire lives were changed, for the better.  Being a parent is such an incredible gift, a hard job, but an amazing blessing.  He has brought us closer as a couple, and given us so many smiles and laughs.  He's just grow into this amazing little personality all his own.  It's been such a great journey.  The love a parent has for their child is indescribable.  He is the light of our lives.  He's Mr. Independent these day, which makes for some long mornings as he struggles to get on his clothes, that he had to pick out.  But we're being patient and hoping three isn't as bad as we've heard.  Happy Birthday Tyler James.  We love you, and are so proud you are ours!

On Ty's actual bday, June 25th, we met the Frantz boys and their very prego Mommy, Melissa, for a day at the zoo.  It was a great day!
Tyler LOVES Diego, so that was the theme of his bday party this year.  I went all out, as per usual:)  I love that creative stuff.  It really brings me joy to see it all come together in the end.

Go Diego, Go

Yes I actually MADE the cupcakes & cake this year.  It was a small victory for me:)  They were edible too!
Our food was Safari Themed...my personal fav...the snake-shaped sandwiches
Is that Diego making an appearance at the party...no...it's the Ty man and his creepy mask! lol!

Miami 10 years later

In June, the Scherman/Burkle family went back to Miami for our 10 year reunion, my parents had their 40th.  We stayed in the dorms with Cindy, Brent and some friends, checked out the bars that were left from our college days, ate Miami food favorites and saw some old friends.  It was such a blast!  I can't believe it's been 10 YEARS!  Time sure does fly.

Mike & I in the dorms - they haven't changed!
Tyler checking out where we'll move him into in 15 years (here's hoping, no pressure!)
Therese came with Brian to check out Miami.  We were so glad she came to enjoy it with us.  That's her beer, not Ty's :)
Visiting a few places near and dear to my heart - Theta suite - for all my theta girls & me...the honorary theta
The door to the Kappa suite.  I ran into Krista Lantz & Suzanne Newhouse, it was awesome to catch up with sisters
The whole crew sharing a beer tower at Skippers

It was a good idea, in theory, to attend the reunion tents, eat there and socialize.  What we found out was that the food ended ridiculously early, barely anyone attended this part of the weekend, and alcohol wasn't free...but we made our own party & loaded up a couple plates so we could all pick off them and get some food for the night.  It was a memorable part of the weekend for sure.
Uptown with the crew.  This picture was taken in the birds nest of First Run (now called Brick Street)
The Burkles & the Bacons reliving old Miami memories
We had the most fun at Stadium where the rest of our class was hanging out. I ran into some old friends & got to spend some time with Shan & Eric.  It was just like old times!  I love Miami!!!

Manic May ~ 2010

May is always a busy month for us. With a million things going on at the end of a school year, trips to the lake, spring cleaning our house, yardwork, birthdays & weddings, we always are on the go in May.  This May was no exception.  We did get a chance to spend some time with friends, and a trip to the lake for my birthday is always tradition.

Ty & his buddy Landen getting into trouble - they had drawn all over themselves with chalk. It was hilarious, until I realized the wrote all over the basement too.

We have been spending lots of time outside, a perk of living in southern Ohio.  The weather definitely gets warmer earlier than Chicago.

While in town for Pam & Ryan's wedding, we got to spend some time with my parents.

This was the first year we ordered bulk mulch for our yard.  What a HUGE job that was.  Thanks Brent for loaning us your truck!  I don't think I would have been happy with that mess in my pilot. Ty had a blast throwing the mulch out of the truck, and we spent hours spreading that mulch.  Thank God that is done for a while.

Another school year at Loveland was coming to an end.  We got to deal with the antics of the outgoing senior class, and all the end-of-the-year madness.  The seniors decided to put LHS up for sale on their last day.  I thought it was a funny, harmless prank, and had to get a picture.
We also took our first trip to the lake for Memorial Day weekend, and my birthday.  Tyler was fearless when it came to swimming in the lake and jumping off the raft.  We invested in a new vest for him too this year.  He also got to ride the jetski, fish with Uncle Brian, and ride on the boats.  The lake is always such a great time.  It is still my most favorite place to be in the entire world, so I was happy to spend my 32nd bday there yet again.  It also always great to have quality time with my family, and have them spend some time with Ty.  We had perfect weather, and for the end of May in Michigan, it was quite a blessing!

A great way to spend my bday!

Pam & Ryan Tie the Knot ~ May 15, 2010

My good friend Pam married her best friend in May.  Ryan is an amazing guy, and they make an incredible couple, who are 100% there for each other through it all.  I was very blessed to watch them pledge their love for each other, and got to party it up with my best friends & family.  It was a perfectly planned night...courtesy of a very creative Pamela Ann, and etsy! :)  Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Dewald!!
