Mike & Nicole's Wedding

During the first weekend of May, the Scherman fam headed back home to the Chicago burbs because a very good friend of ours, Mike (aka Vitch), was tying the knot to his lovely gal Nicole. My Mike was in the wedding so he and Ty headed into town a little early and I got to fly in (woo hoo!) on Friday on my own so I wouldn't have to miss work. It was a bit of a perk that the wedding was at the hotel right behind Yorktown Mall so we got to spend lots of time with my parents as well. My mom was in heaven on Friday because she got Ty all to herself, and got to show him off at school and have all her Grams and Tyler time. I also got to see Marina and Hendrix on Saturday afternoon. The wedding didn't start until 5, so my mom and I headed out to Oak Brook Mall to do a little shopping with Ty in tow. Rina was nice enough to drive out to the burbs to meet us with Hendrix. We had a wonderful time shopping, chatting and lunching. The wedding itself was just gorgeous. Mike and I stayed in the hotel for a full adult evening alone, while the grandparents watched the Ty-man. We had a great time catching up with old college friends, and pretending like we could still drink like our college days, yeah right! We are very happy for our friends Mike and Nicole! They are a pretty fantastic couple and we were blessed to be a part of their special day. Goin' Back to Cali

few weeks ago, Ty and I took a trip out to LA to see our friends Kimmy and Eleanor. Another close friend, Kelly, who is 6 months pregnant, was also with us on the trip. It was my first time with a toddler on a plane and I was extremely nervous. I stocked up on as many activities, DVDs, sticker books, playdoh and snacks that I could stuff in my carry-on and hoped for the best. We had a layover, which I was not sure was a good or a bad thing, considering I'd never done this long of a trip before with Ty. Considering the length of the day, and the fact that both flights were redeyes, Ty did fantastically. There were two little moments during the entire trip where he started to scream and I started to panic, but when all was said and done he calmed down and even slept on one leg of the trip home (sweet relief!).

While in LA we got to do so many fun things. Kimmy is queen of toddler-friendly activities so she kept us all very busy. Her daughter, Eleanor, is 10 days younger than Ty so it was wonderful to watch them interact. Eleanor is so smart and quite a chatterbox so it was a great influence on Tyler. He came back with at least 5-10 new words in his vocabulary! :) We went to a beach in Malibu, ate at a biker hangout, went to a really neat farm, got fresh produce, spent countless hours in their amazing kid-friendly backyard, did duel baths, registered Kelly for baby products (I think we scared Kel with all the baby items she needs...haha), checked out Calabasas where the Kardashians live, and spent some amazing quality time catching up and reminiscing about old college times (man did we laugh!). Kim's hubby also allowed us a night out on the town for some amazing sushi, although any sushi in comparison to Cincy sushi is amazing:) It was a wonderful trip and I'm so grateful Kelly allowed us to tag along on her yearly jaunt out west. Thanks girls!

Hoppy Easter

I'm clearly still very behind...but we're catching up slowly! When we returned from our Spring Break trip the next day was Easter. We spent the day at my in-laws eating lots of food and hanging out with family. Tyler got his first Bible, which was a special occasion. Ty and I also did an Easter project, instead of coloring eggs which I think he's a bit too young to appreciate just yet. Here are a few pix of our project results and Ty opening his Easter gifts.Kissing the bunnyTy's first Bible from his Mimi and PapaMommy and Tyler's art project

Spring Break 2009

The first week April the Scherman family drove...yes I did say DROVE...down to South Carolina to Myrtle Beach for a week. We stayed gratis in the beautiful Shoptech condo right on the ocean in North Myrtle (Shoptech is Mike's company). Although the ride down was not exactly smooth sailing when Ty puked everywhere somewhere in Tennesee in the middle of the night, but we survived. We had a wonderful week of 70+ weather and got to enjoy the beach, do some fun dinners and Mike got to golf. It was a relaxing week in the sun. I even got to read, yes read an actual book that doesn't have rhyming or pictures. I am now officially on the Twilight bandwagon, as I read the first book in 2 days!!! Mike's mom, her husband Dave and my sister-in-law also came down for a few days and we had fun spending some quality time with them. All and all, it was a wonderful trip down south. The pictures are in no particular order and I gave up trying to pick out pictures carefully since it's a miracle I'm actually trying to update the blog at all a month later! Here are a few at least. We're still here!

Sorry we've been out of the blog world lately. It's been a crazy month with 4 weekends of traveling and new adventures at home. Mike made a trip down to visit his friend Dan in Columbia, SC so Ty and I were alone for a few days, then we had our spring break the week following down in Myrtle Beach (and we drove...yuck!), Tyler and I took a trip to LA last weekend to see a friend and her family, and this past weekend we were in Chicago for a wedding. On top of all of this, both Mike and I are training for a few triathlons this summer! Needless to say...we're living in an unorganized house, with piles of laundry and a list a mile long of things to do...but we're here and things are good, despite the exhaustion! I will try to update the blog and catch you all up on our adventures this week. Until then...
